Italics Art between tradition and revolution 1968 - 2008
Palazzo Grassi, Venice
From 27 September 2008 to 22 March 2009
Francesco Bonami, curator of Italics, describes Italian contemporary art as a train for which some of its cars would have already crossed borders and oceans and others have been in the maze of the Italian contemporary history.
Italics doesn't limit itself to present, once more, the key works of Italian art, from Burri to Fontana, from the Arte Povera to the Transavanguardia, but surveys in depth the Italian art scene of the past forty years.
Bringing together 250 works by over 100 artists including some unjustly forgotten, the new exhibition of the Palazzo Grassi offers a unique vision of contemporary Italian art, between tradition and revolution.

VIVRE 1945-48
From 11 November 2006 to 11 March 2007
In the summer of 1946, the whole of Europe was recovering
from the strain of the war years and Picasso, rejuvenated
by a new love affair, comes back to the French Riviera.
In his atelier, at the Grimaldi Castle of Antibes, his palette
explodes in a firework of colours, happiness and hope.
More than 200 artworks (paintings, etchings, drawings, ceramics,
sculptures and pictures) introduce visitors to this creative
period of Picasso's production.
At the same time, the first floor of Palazzo Grassi houses
some Post-Pop works from the François
Pinault Collection.
Guided tours by Codess Cultura with
italian, english, french, spanish and russian speaking guides.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Guided tours to the François Pinault Collection in Venice, Palazzo Grassi
Until the 1st October,
it will be possible to know the Pinault Collection at Palazzo
Grassi with the guided tours organised by Codess Cultura.
This exhibition marks the
first public unveiling of one of the most significant art
collections of our time. Curated by Alison M. Gingeras,
Adjunct Curator for the Guggenheim Museums, "Where Are We
Going?" focuses on the art of the postwar period,
offering a selection from extensive holdings assembled over
more than thirty years.
The exhibition will be open
from April 30 through October 1, 2006.
Re-posing the question famously
asked by Paul Gauguin at the cusp of the last century-and
ironically adapted by Damien Hirst at the start of this
one (the artists' Where are we going? Where do we come from?
Is there a reason? (2004), appears in the exhibition's forth
and final section, This is Today) -"Where Are We Going?"
presents some two hundred works by forty-nine artists, organized
into thematic chapters that unfold on the three floors of
the Palazzo.
Eschewing a strict historical
chronology, the exhibition includes highlights of some of
the most influential art movements of the past sixty years
(Art Informel, Arte Povera, Minimalism, Post-Minimalism,
Pop Art) and takes us up to the present moment with significant
offerings from today's most challenging artists.
